Desc: Torsions: Directed by Omar Adnan Chowdhury. The two part moving image installation Torsions gathers together the rhythms, events, spiritual processes and phenomena of a Hindu and a Shia Muslim festival in Old Dhaka. The works intimately explore the actions of believers experiencing transcendent moments in the midst of the kinetic chaos of the large, worshipping crowds. The long, detailed works, and the austere monumentality of their installation contemplatively accumulates impressions and faces and objects to create a deeply metaphoric, sensorial experience of spiritual form.
